Walk-A-Thon vs Read-A-Thon vs Bike-A-Thon: Which Raises the Most?
In this video, Catie from RallyUp walks you through how Walk-A-Thons, Read-A-Thons, and Bike-A-Thons actually compare — and the formula that matters more than which activity you pick.
Each format wins on a different measure. One raises the most in total, one is the easiest to run, and one brings in the most per participant. Which is right for you comes down to who your participants are, not which activity sounds most impressive.
How the three A-Thons compare:
Walk-A-Thon — usually wins on total dollars, because almost anyone can join. Schools average around $23,765 raised per event
Read-A-Thon — the easiest to run. No weather plan required, and a typical school raises $5,000–$20,000 in two weeks
Bike-A-Thon — raises the most per rider, though fewer people can take part
The real formula behind all three: participants × average pledge = total. That beats a fancier activity every time
Pick one: elementary school → Read-A-Thon. PTA or community group wanting a big shared day → Walk-A-Thon. Sports club or cycling group → Bike-A-Thon
One Personal Fundraising Page per participant, shared with friends and family, is what actually drives the total up
