3 Raffle Mistakes to Avoid
In this video, Catie from RallyUp walks you through the three mistakes that quietly cost nonprofit Raffles the most money — and what to do instead.
None of these are exotic problems. They’re the ordinary ones: skipping the rules research, picking a ticket price out of thin air, and treating launch day as the whole campaign. Each has a straightforward fix you can apply before your next Raffle goes live.
Three mistakes to avoid:
- Treating raffle law as an afterthought. Rules vary by state and even by region. Review your local rules and official state guidance before you launch
- Pricing entries by guessing. Price backwards instead: take your goal, add your costs, then divide by the minimum number of entries you can realistically sell — and set your price to match
- Skipping bundles. Entry bundles consistently outperform single entries, so always offer them
- Setting it and forgetting it. One email isn’t a campaign. Turn supporters into sellers with Peer-to-Peer, add Sharing Rewards with bonus entries, and notify supporters at launch, at the midpoint, and in the final 48 hours
