How-to: Promote Your Peer-to-Peer or A-Thon Campaign with Text-to-Register

Text your supporters a direct link to your Participant Center using a unique keyword.

If you’re running a Peer-to-Peer or A-Thon Campaign where supporters can register to help raise funds, Text-to-Register makes it easy for supporters to sign up from their mobile devices. When they text a unique keyword of your choosing to 33100, they’ll receive a response with a link to your Participant Center.

What should I know before enabling Text-to-Register?

  • You can only enable Text-to-Register if you’ve enabled public registration and added a Participant Center to your Campaign.
  • Text-to-Register is powered by Twilio. Twilio’s Messaging Policy forbids sending messages related to cannabis and CBD or the marketing or sale of a cannabis product since they aren’t legal everywhere in the United States. If you or your supporters are based in the US and your Campaign involves cannabis or CBD products, you shouldn’t use this feature.
  • Your Text-to-Register keyword will start working as soon as your Campaign goes live. The keyword will not work while your Campaign is still in draft.

How do I enable Text-to-Register on my Campaign?

  1. Go to Campaigns in the left menu.
  2. If you have chosen a list view, click on the Campaign title. If you have chosen a grid view, click on the Campaign image.
  3. Select Campaign Setup.
  4. Go to Peer-to-Peer in the timeline at the top.
  5. Scroll down to Optional settings and select Show optional settings.
  6. Scroll down to Promote your Peer-to-Peer Campaign with Text-to-Register and click on the toggle so it shifts to the right.

  8. Select Check Availability to see if your chosen keyword is available. If it’s not, try adding numbers or using a different word.
  9. If you have supporters outside of the US, you can check the box next to Make Text-to-Register available to supporters outside the US. International donors can use this number if they’re able to receive US-based messages on their mobile device.
