How-to: Hide Participant Information from Your Campaign Page

Protect Peer-to-Peer or A-Thon participants’ privacy and reduce competition by hiding information from public-facing pages.

When you add Peer-to-Peer or an A-Thon to your RallyUp Campaign, you’ll find multiple options to hide Participant* information from your Campaign Page (and Participant Center*, if you’ve added one). These options can help you protect underage participants, reduce the competitive element of your fundraiser, and more.

*Terminology may differ according to Campaign settings.

What privacy options are available for Peer-to-Peer and A-Thon Campaigns?

RallyUp offers six privacy settings to control what Participant information displays publicly:

1. Hide Participants’ last names. Names will display with just the first name and last initial on any public-facing pages and during the checkout process. This is ideal for protecting minors or Participants who prefer additional privacy.

2. Remove the Participant list from the Campaign Page. If you’ve enabled Personal Fundraising Pages, this will prohibit anyone who visits the Campaign Page from accessing them. Supporters can only access a Participant’s Personal Fundraising Page if the Participant chooses to share the link with them. Participant names will still show in the checkout process so donors can choose a Participant and give them credit for the donation.

3. Remove the Participant Center button from the Campaign Page. If you add a Participant Center to your Peer-to-Peer Campaign, a button that leads to the Participant Center will automatically be displayed on the main page. Hiding the button keeps the Participant Center private, so only those with the link to the Participant Center will be able to access it.

4. Use private registration without collecting an email address from Participants. This allows you to control the content of Participants’ Personal Fundraising Pages and restrict Participants from editing the content or adding personal photos.

5. Hide Participant and Team rankings. By default, a Participant’s or Team’s ranking is displayed on any public-facing pages. Hiding rankings allows Participants to fundraise with less pressure.

6. Hide leaderboards from the Participant Center. RallyUp offers multiple leaderboard options for you to display, but you can hide any or all of them to reduce competition.

Why would I want to hide Participant information?

Hiding Participant information serves several important purposes for your fundraising Campaign:

  • Organizations commonly use privacy settings to protect minors participating in school fundraisers or youth programs, ensuring their personal information isn’t publicly accessible.
  • Privacy controls also reduce competitive pressure among Participants who may feel discouraged by public rankings or leaderboards.
  • Additionally, some Participants prefer privacy for personal reasons and are more likely to participate when they know their information won’t be fully public.

These settings give you flexibility to create a Campaign environment that works best for your Participants while still allowing donors to support specific individuals.

Can donors still give credit to specific Participants if I hide the Participant list?

Yes, donors can still give Participants credit for their donations even when the Participant list is hidden from your Campaign Page. During checkout, Participant names will appear in a dropdown menu, allowing donors to select who they want to support. This means you can protect Participant privacy on public pages while still maintaining the core functionality of Peer-to-Peer fundraising. The key difference is that supporters will need direct links to Personal Fundraising Pages if you want them to visit those pages, rather than browsing through a public list on your Campaign Page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I hide Participant last names in my Peer-to-Peer Campaign?

You can hide Participant last names by adjusting your privacy settings during Campaign Setup or by editing your Campaign settings after launch. When enabled, Participant names will display as “First Name L.” instead of showing the full last name on public pages, leaderboards, and during checkout. This setting is particularly useful for youth fundraisers or when Participants have privacy concerns. For complete instructions, visit our guide on hiding Peer-to-Peer Participant last names.

What happens to Personal Fundraising Pages when I hide the Participant list?

When you hide the Participant list from your Campaign Page, Personal Fundraising Pages still exist and function normally, but they become accessible only through direct links. Participants can share their unique fundraising page URLs with their networks, and those supporters can donate directly through those pages. This approach gives Participants full control over who sees their page while preventing random visitors to your Campaign Page from browsing all Participant pages. Donors can still select Participants during checkout to give them credit.

Can I hide some Participants but not others?

The privacy settings apply to all Participants in your Campaign uniformly. You cannot selectively hide individual Participants while showing others. If you need Participant-specific privacy controls, consider running separate Campaigns.

Will hiding leaderboards affect Participant motivation?

Hiding leaderboards and rankings can actually improve participation for Campaigns where competition creates anxiety rather than motivation. Many Participants, especially younger fundraisers or first-time Participants, feel more comfortable when they aren’t publicly ranked against others. You can still provide private updates to Participants about their progress without displaying public rankings. For Campaigns where friendly competition drives results, you might choose to keep leaderboards visible. Consider your Participant demographic and fundraising culture when deciding. Learn more about hiding Peer-to-Peer leaderboards.

Do privacy settings affect how I manage Participants on the backend?

No, privacy settings only control what information is visible on public-facing pages like your Campaign Page and Participant Center. As a Campaign Administrator, you still have full access to all Participant information, complete names, contact details, fundraising totals, and rankings. You can still export reports, communicate with Participants, and manage all aspects of your Campaign regardless of what privacy settings you enable for public visitors.
