Understand: Why Free Pricing Raffles and Sweepstakes Have a Ten Entry Minimum

Use entry quantities to increase donations and eliminate platform fees.

Some customers find it unclear why they can’t sell one Raffle or Sweepstakes entry at a time. If you select RallyUp’s Free Pricing option, the system requires at least ten entries per purchase. The most important thing to note is that this requirement doesn’t reduce the funds you raise; it makes it easier to raise more funds. It also allows you to run your Raffles for free.

How do Raffle and Sweepstakes entries work?

One crucial factor to remember is that entries aren’t the same as donations. For example, if someone purchases $25 worth of entries, it won’t affect the amount of money raised whether the donor gets 1 or 100 entries. Your organization will receive the $25 either way.

You can even encourage higher donations by giving discounts for buying more entries, like in this example:

  • 10 entries for $10
  • 50 entries for $25
  • 150 entries for $50

Why does Free pricing require a 10-entry minimum?

RallyUp requires you to offer at least ten entries per price level because the Free Pricing option allows donors to leave a tip to help cover platform fees. If the fundraiser is a Raffle or Sweepstakes, the system offers donors a few extra entries to encourage them to leave a tip. The 10-entry minimum allows our system to provide at least one extra entry per tip.

What should I know before setting up entry levels?

  • See our Pricing Page to learn more about your pricing options. If you create a Raffle or Sweepstakes and pay a Platform Fee, there is no entry minimum.
  • Ensure that your entry levels are all accurate before publishing your Campaign. Once a donor purchases a specific entry level, you can’t alter or delete that entry level in any way, even if you refund all purchases for that entry level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I sell one Raffle entry at a time with Free pricing?

Free pricing allows donors to tip to cover Platform Fees, and the system offers bonus entries to encourage tipping. The 10-entry minimum ensures there are enough entries to provide at least one bonus entry per tip amount.

Do entry quantities affect how much money I raise?

No, entry quantities don’t affect your total donations. Whether a donor receives 10 entries or 100 entries for a $25 donation, your organization still receives the full $25.

Can I avoid the 10-entry minimum for my Raffle?

Yes, if you select Flex pricing instead of Free pricing for your Raffle or Sweepstakes Campaign, there is no entry minimum requirement. With Flex pricing, you pay a Platform Fee but have full flexibility on entry quantities.

What happens if I need to change entry levels after publishing?

Once a donor purchases a specific entry level, you cannot alter or delete that entry level in any way, even if you refund all purchases. Make sure all entry levels are accurate before publishing your Campaign.

How can I encourage donors to purchase more entries?

You can create tiered entry levels with discounts for larger purchases, such as 10 entries for $10, 50 entries for $25, or 150 entries for $50. This pricing strategy encourages higher donations while giving donors more chances to win.
