Understand: Browsers and Devices That Support Livestreaming

Learn which browsers and devices presenters and attendees should use to access your Livestream.

Not all browsers and devices support livestreaming equally. These recommendations will help your RallyUp Livestream run smoothly for both presenters and attendees.

What browsers should presenters and viewers use?

  • Presenters: We recommend using Chrome to join the Livestream Studio, as the controls will work best in that browser. Safari is not supported at this time. You’ll also want to make sure your browser has access to your microphone and camera before joining. Give Your Browser Access to Your Microphone and Camera
  • Audience: Livestream viewers can use most browsers, though Internet Explorer does not support livestreaming and some users may experience audio issues with Safari.

What devices work best for presenters and attendees?

  • Presenters: You must use a desktop or laptop to join the Livestream Studio, as mobile and tablet devices are not supported for hosts and presenters. This also makes it easier to manage controls, especially if you’ve planned multiple activities or want to include pre-recorded content. If you’re using an Apple device and plan to share your screen, there’s one additional step: Allow Your Apple Device to Share Your Screen During a Livestream
  • Audience: Attendees can use a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone to view the Livestream and participate in any Livestream activities.

What should presenters know about audio on supported livestreaming devices?

If you’re a presenter, we recommend using a headset and muting yourself whenever you’re backstage. Even though the audience can’t see or hear you, any presenters onstage can still hear you. If any onstage presenters are using external speakers instead of headsets, your audio may also carry to viewers.
