Learn about RallyUp’s A-Thon options and how to customize them.
A-Thons are a “pledge per” fundraiser:
- Supporters sign up to participate in one or more A-Thon activities (e.g., walking, running, dancing, reading, etc.).
- Donors pledge to donate a certain amount per each unit of activity completed (e.g., $5 per mile in a jog-a-thon or $1 per word in a spell-a-thon). If they prefer, donors can also make a flat, one-time donation.
- Participants log their progress during or after their A-Thon.
- Once the Campaign is finalized, donors’ credit cards are charged per unit of activity completed by the Participants.
RallyUp provides many tools and customization options to help you run a smooth and successful A-Thon. The links below will take you to other Knowledge Base articles with further information.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an A-Thon fundraiser?
An A-Thon is a “pledge per” fundraiser where Participants complete activities like walking, running, or reading, and donors pledge to give a certain amount per unit of activity completed, such as $5 per mile or $1 per page read.
Can donors make a flat donation instead of pledging per unit?
Yes, while A-Thons are designed for pledge-per-unit donations, donors can also choose to make a flat, one-time donation if they prefer not to pledge per activity unit.
When are donors charged for their pledges?
Donors’ credit cards are charged after the Campaign is finalized and Participants have logged their completed activities. The charge is based on the actual units completed multiplied by their pledge amount.
Do I need multiple Participants for an A-Thon?
No, you can run an A-Thon with just one Participant or with multiple Participants. If you have multiple Participants, donors can choose which specific Participants they want to support.
What’s the difference between A-Thon and Peer-to-Peer?
A-Thon focuses on pledge-per-activity fundraising with activity tracking, while Peer-to-Peer allows supporters to help you spread the word about your fundraiser without activity tracking. Enabling multiple Participants in an A-Thon automatically enables Peer-to-Peer features.
