Learn how payment processing fees are calculated and deducted from the funds you raise.
All RallyUp Campaigns allow donors to make payments with a debit or credit card. These card payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal, which charge a processing fee for all card payments.
Who receives the payment processing fees?
The bank or other financial institution that issues the debit or credit card gets most of this fee. Stripe and PayPal get a very small portion of the fee for collecting and processing the payment.
RallyUp does not receive any portion of the credit card fees. The fees are set strictly by Stripe, PayPal, and the credit card companies.
What are the standard processing fee rates?
Payment processing fee rates charged by Stripe or PayPal can differ according to several factors. We suggest contacting Stripe or PayPal directly to confirm your rate. Please note that it can take them a few days to respond if they get a high volume of requests.
Can I get a nonprofit discount on processing fees?
If you have been granted a Stripe or PayPal nonprofit discount, you can update your processing fee rate in your account settings. This will ensure that any RallyUp reports accurately reflect the fees your organization will be charged.

What are the processing fees for Donor Advised Funds?
Please note that the nonprofit discount is only available if you set up a direct Stripe or PayPal account. If you need to use a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to collect all payments on your behalf, you’ll be charged fees set by the DAF and will not be eligible for a nonprofit discount. RallyUp does not receive any portion of the DAF fees.

What additional fees might donors encounter?
If a donor pays for a donation or purchase using a credit or debit card that uses a different currency from the one you’re using for your campaign, that donor may be charged a foreign transaction fee in addition to their donation. Foreign transaction fees are charged by the card company (e.g., Visa or Mastercard).
