Understand: Bonus Entries

Offer bonus entries for tips with Free or Flex pricing.

Bonus entries allow donors to purchase discounted Raffle or Sweepstakes entries in exchange for a tip. Bonus entries work slightly differently depending on whether you use Free or Flex pricing to fundraise.

How do bonus entries work with Free pricing?

When donors check out, they’ll be asked if they want to add any bonus entries:

The amount donors pay for their bonus entries is considered the “tip”. These tips then go to RallyUp to cover the costs of hosting your fundraiser.

Free pricing Raffles and Sweepstakes require a 10-entry minimum on your lowest entry level, which allows our system to offer at least one extra entry per tip. Learn more here: Understand: Why Free Pricing Raffles and Sweepstakes Have a Ten Entry Minimum.

How do bonus entries work with Flex pricing?

With Flex pricing, bonus entries are disabled by default but can be enabled on any Flex Raffle or Sweepstakes. The bonus entry question is fully customizable, including the header, body, bonus entry amounts, and prices:

Any tips you receive from bonus entries will go to your organization to help offset the Platform Fee. It’s possible to receive enough revenue from bonus entries to cover the Platform Fee and then some. In that case, you keep the extra revenue.

Flex pricing also allows you to offset fees in other ways, or choose to cover all fees yourself. Learn more here: How-to: Pass Campaign and Donation Page Fees on to Donors.

What are the requirements for bonus entries?

  • If your Raffle allows donors to purchase entries for specific prizes, bonus entries will be distributed proportionally between the prizes they select. For example, if a donor purchases 10 entries for Prize #1 and 20 entries for Prize #2, then purchases 10% more bonus entries, the system will assign 1 bonus entry to Prize #1 and assign 2 bonus entries to Prize #2.
  • If you’re running a Flex Raffle or Sweepstakes that offers bonus entries and allows donors to purchase entries for specific prizes, the lowest bonus entry level must offer a minimum of 10 entries.
  • Bonus entries are only offered on Raffles and Sweepstakes. For all other Components, you can allow donors to leave a tip but they will not receive anything in exchange.
