Any group or organization can use RallyUp to fundraise for a charitable cause. Individuals can also start campaigns, but the funds from those campaigns must benefit a charitable group or organization. The funds will be sent directly to the benefiting organization, so there’s no need to worry about funds reaching their destination.
Is RallyUp only for nonprofit organizations?
Anyone can use RallyUp, but the funds raised through campaigns must benefit a charitable group or organization. Due to federal regulations regarding raffles specifically, only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations can run a raffle fundraiser (but they must still meet state regulations).
Can non-US organizations use RallyUp?
Yes. Any organization can use RallyUp, and any campaign can accept international credit card donations. Donations made via credit card are automatically converted to US dollars. Users in many countries, including Canada and the UK, can also accept and receive donations in their native currency without any conversion.
Some countries don’t allow certain campaign types (such as sweepstakes or raffles), so your organization will need to verify compliance with local laws and regulations before running these campaign types.
Can funds raised be given to an individual?
Campaigns that are run on RallyUp are designed to benefit charitable organizations. Because of this, funds can’t be distributed to individuals.
Is RallyUp secure?
Absolutely! RallyUp meets the highest level of industry payment and application security standards. All payments are processed directly via Stripe and PayPal, and payment information is never stored on (or even passes through) RallyUp servers. In addition, RallyUp’s strict privacy policies ensure that your donor information and other data is never sold or otherwise provided to third parties.
Do you have a trial plan?
Even better! You can set up a campaign without even providing an email address. If you like what you see, simply publish your campaign and start collecting donations. Everything you need is built right into the system.
Can donors contribute anonymously?
Yes, donors have several options. They can choose not to display their name and donation amount, hide their name only, or even choose to be anonymous to the organization (if you enable that option).
However, donors can’t be anonymous to the organization when they’re purchasing items or tickets, since a bit of contact information is required for delivering items or tickets.
Can I have more than one campaign administrator?
Yes, you can easily add as many administrators as you like. This lets you share administrator-level privileges and account access at no additional cost.
How will I know if someone donated to my campaign?
You’ll always have easy access to a complete list of your donations and donors on your personalized account management dashboard. You can also choose to have the system send you an email each time a contribution is made.
Can I create a campaign with no end date?
Each campaign needs an end date, but any campaign can be extended as needed up to a year, and some can run for up to 5 years. Having a reachable end date also helps keep momentum going with your supporters!
Can I enable team fundraising on any campaign?
You can enable peer-to-peer (team) fundraising on all campaigns except for auctions. Using peer-to-peer fundraising is a great way to motivate your supporters to participate in your campaign and share your cause.
Which payment methods can be accepted?
You can choose to receive donations by credit card, PayPal, or check. Credit card payments are processed using Stripe, and for check donations, donors are provided with instructions on how to mail their payments directly to the organization.
Do I need a credit card processing account?
No. If you are raising money for an organization that you’re not part of, all of the payment processing will be handled for you; you don’t have to do a thing. The same applies if you’re with an organization, but don’t have the authority to deal with payment accounts.
If you’re with an organization and have the authority to deal with payments, then you can either link your Stripe payment account during setup, or one will be automatically created for you. Either way, the process is quick and simple.
If your organization doesn’t allow the linking or creation of a Stripe account, then you can use RallyUp’s built-in payment processing (pending identity verification). This way, you can accept donations without having a processing account, and the funds raised will be sent to you.
How do I receive the funds my organization raises?
Funds will be directly deposited to your bank account if you use a Stripe account. If your nonprofit organization uses RallyUp’s built-in merchant account, you can request a funds disbursement whenever you choose.
How long does it take to receive funds?
The process is quick and simple! If you’re using your organization’s own Stripe account, funds are typically transferred to your account within 2 business days from the time they were collected. If you use RallyUp’s payment processing, funds will reach you within 10 days after your request.
Can I keep the funds raised if my campaign goal isn’t reached?
Definitely! Unlike some fundraising sites, we don’t force you to reach your goal or charge you a higher price to keep your funds. You can choose to set up an all-or-nothing campaign that is goal-dependent, but that’s not our fundraising standard.
Are donations made on RallyUp tax-deductible?
RallyUp provides all of the functionality needed to support tax-deductible donations, but whether donations to any specific campaign are deductible or not will depend on your organization’s tax-exempt status and the type of campaign you run.
Can I have donors pay the processing fees?
Absolutely! You have the option to automatically add the payment processing fees to each donation. Alternatively, you can ask each supporter if they’d like to help by paying the fee when they make their contribution.
Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?
RallyUp works exclusively with nonprofits and other charitable organizations. Our pricing is already among the lowest in the industry – check out our pricing page for details!
