What is a domain name?
This is the address where people will find your campaign page online. For example, go.rallyup.com/mycampaign.
What is the benefit of creating a custom domain?
By creating a custom domain name for your campaign page, you can match your RallyUp campaign page to your existing web presence! For example, donate.mycampaign.com. This option removes RallyUp branding from your domain for a personalized experience and professional appearance.
How do I set up and register my custom domain?
Follow the steps below to set up and register your new domain. (If you get stuck along the way, we’re here for you! Email us anytime at email@example.com)
1. Create a custom domain name
In creating a custom domain name for your campaign page, keeping it simple will make it easier for supporters to find your campaigns online. Here are some examples of easy-to-remember domain names:
Note: If you already own a domain name that you want to use for your RallyUp fundraising campaign(s), skip to step 3.
2. Check the availability of and register your domain name
The first step to registering your custom domain name is making sure that it isn’t already in use. In the examples above, the domain name to register would be mycampaign.com. You’ll add the give/donate/support part of your domain name in step 3, and it can be any word you choose.
Below is a list of popular services for checking the availability of and registering your new domain name. Any of these websites will guide you in the process of finding a domain name that’s open for use, then registering your domain when you’ve found a name that is available.
3. Set up a URL Forward
Once you have a registered domain, you’ll need to set up a URL Forward so that when someone types in your domain, it automatically forwards them to your RallyUp Campaign’s URL.
- NOTE: You’ll need to know your RallyUp’s Campaign URL for the next step. If you don’t know what your Campaign URL is, just open your Campaign Page on RallyUp and copy the link in your address bar
We’ve compiled a list of help articles on how to set up a URL Forward for popular domain hosting services:
If your domain provider isn’t listed above, just search the web for “[Domain Provider Name] domain forwarding” where you replace “[Domain Provider Name]” with the name of your Domain Provider, like GoDaddy or Name.com. You should be able to find an easy help article from their site on how to do this entire process.
If you still need help on adding a URL Forward, contact the support team of your Domain Provider by sending them our email template below (be sure to replace the blanks with your information):
