What is a domain name?
This is the address where people will find your campaign page online. For example, go.rallyup.com/mycampaign.
What is the benefit of creating a custom domain?
By creating a custom domain name for your campaign page, you can match your RallyUp campaign page to your existing web presence! For example, donate.mycampaign.com. This option removes RallyUp branding from your domain for a personalized experience and professional appearance.
How do I set up and register my custom domain?
Follow the steps below to set up and register your new and shiny domain. (If you get stuck along the way, we’re here for you! Email us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org)
1. Create a custom domain name
In creating a custom domain name for your campaign page, keeping it simple will make it easier for supporters to find your campaigns online. Here are some examples of easy-to-remember domain names:
Note: If you already own a domain name that you want to use for your RallyUp fundraising campaign(s), skip to step 3.
2. Check the availability of and register your domain name
The first step to registering your custom domain name is making sure that it isn’t already in use. In the examples above, the domain name to register would be mycampaign.com. You’ll add the give/donate/support part of your domain name in step 3, and it can be any word you choose.
Below is a list of popular services for checking the availability of and registering your new domain name. Any of these websites will guide you in the process of finding a domain name that’s open for use, then registering your domain when you’ve found a name that is available.
3. Add a CNAME Record
Once you have a registered domain, you’ll need to add a CNAME record to your domain’s DNS records. Contact the support team of your domain host with our email template for help on this step, or you can follow the steps below yourself.
- Go to the DNS record section of your Domain Provider’s settings portal
- Choose to add a new record to your DNS settings, and select CNAME as the record type.
- In the Host field, enter a subdomain of your domain. For example, if the domain you registered back in step 2 is myorganization.com, you can enter donate.myorganization.com for Host, where “donate” can be any word you choose (e.g. “support”, “give”, “go”, etc.)
- For the Destination field, enter the following: go.rallyup.com
We’ve compiled a list of help articles on adding a CNAME record for popular domain hosting services. These articles explain how to add a CNAME record if you are using their services to host your domain:

The final step of your Custom Domain setup is to secure the domain by installing an SSL Certificate. Just let us know via phone, email, or chat when you’ve finished setting up your new custom domain in steps 1-4 above, and we’ll then generate a security certificate for your domain to let users know they’re using a secure website. (Without this “SSL Certificate,” browsers will mark your page as insecure, which can prevent users from accessing your page)
Once your security certificate is all set, your new custom domain will be active and ready to use on your RallyUp campaign!
